Where does one turn when a loved one is exhibiting what the adult child calls unsafe living skills? The older adult does not appear to be as safe in the home as they once were. However, the older adult wants to remain in control and independent. The answer may be a Homemaker/Companion service. These individuals, male or female, equipped with life learned skills, a pleasant personality and disposition to assist others with daily tasks and yet maintain their independence, could be the answer.

Homemaker/Companions are people who help others with daily living skills. These tasks may include but are not limited to: light house cleaning, assistance with meals, shopping and errands or companionship and other supportive services. They do not provide hands on care. Depending on the personal need, the Homemaker/ Companion can remind someone to take their regularly scheduled medications that the family has set up, help zip the back of a dress, carry out the trash, accompany clients to the grocery store and reach for those high items and arrange or accompany the client to and from appointments and other engagements. The Homemaker/Companion is also a stand-by person so that the client and adult children do not worry while the client takes a shower when there is a potential for falling. The Homemaker/Companion can call for assistance when it is needed. A good Companion is also a great conversationalist and an especially good listener. They appreciate the client, their contributions to our history and understand the client's current limited state.
Homemaker/Companion services can be provided by a Homemaker/Companion company that specializes exclusively in Homemaker/Companions.
