mber of the Dementia Friendly America Council, (DFA) PAHSA engages association members and related congregations to help create dementia-friendly communities nationwide. Uniting the work of a growing number of national organizations, the Dementia Friendly America initiative is catalyzing a movement to more effectively support and serve those across America who are living with dementia and their family and friend care partners. The organizations represent all sectors of community and are collectively leveraging their national reach to activate their local affiliates, members and branches to convene, participate in and support dementia friendly community efforts at a local level.
What is a Dementia Friendly Community?
A dementia-friendly community is a place where people living with dementia are supported to live a high quality life with meaning, purpose, and value. For people with younger onset dementia, this also means being given the opportunity and support to stay at work or volunteer.
